Birthday Hits — Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 27, 2026

Birthday Hits ("the app") lets you pick a date -- a birthday, anniversary, first date, or anything else -- and builds a playlist of every #1 hit charted since then, directly in your own Apple Music library. This page explains what information the app collects and how it's used.

Information we collect

Account information. When you sign in with Sign in with Apple, we receive a stable identifier for your account, and -- only on your very first sign-in -- your name and email address (or Apple's private relay email, if you choose to hide your email). We store this to identify your account and attribute your saved playlists and favorites to you.

Event information. The date, event type (birthday, anniversary, first date, or other), and any custom label you enter for an event you create.

Apple Music access. When you choose to add a playlist to your Apple Music library, the app requests a one-time authorization token from Apple on your behalf, which is used immediately to search Apple's catalog and create the playlist in your library. This token is not stored after the request completes.

Song favorites. If you tag a song as a favorite, we record that tag against your account. Favorites are aggregated anonymously across all users to power features like "most popular song" rankings -- these rankings show song titles and counts only, never who tagged them.

How we use this information

To operate your account, build and save your playlists, let you share a playlist with others, and power aggregate features like popularity rankings. We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with third parties for advertising.

Children's privacy

Birthday Hits is intended for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at the address below and we will delete it.

Data retention and deletion

You can request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us at the email below.

Security

Account sessions are secured with signed tokens; passwords are never collected or stored, since sign-in is handled entirely by Sign in with Apple.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
